Valentina Rosa, Human Rights Watch’s Chief Development Officer, leads the organization’s outreach, fundraising and marketing activities. She oversees fundraising operations in 36 cities globally and heads a team of more than 120 staff. Valentina has 12 years’ experience of executive-level fundraising in the global humanitarian sector in addition to several years’ experience in the private sector working for multinational companies.  

Prior to joining Human Rights Watch, Valentina held senior leadership positions at Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Rome and Geneva, combining high-value individual donor outreach with mass-giving campaigns. She also served as a member of the MSF international fundraising platform, driving the most strategic dossiers at the global level. Valentina also worked at UNICEF, where she worked on fundraising strategies in nine different countries. Before her roles in the non-profit sector, Valentina worked in business planning, marketing and strategy, first with McKinsey & Company and then with American Express.  

Valentina holds a Master in Business Education from INSEAD, a Master of Science in Physical Chemistry from the University of Illinois, and a Master of Science in Physics from the Università la Sapienza di Roma. She speaks Italian, English and French, and is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
