Jan Kooy
Jan Kooy is the Deputy European Media Director at Human Rights Watch. Based in Amsterdam, he is responsible for media outreach and strategy across Europe. Jan also serves on the board of directors of the Sport & Rights Alliance, as Secretary and Treasurer.
He previously worked as a reporter at the Dutch national newswire Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau, from 1999 to 2012. Jan worked at the several departments including the Foreign Desk, covering a wide range of topics, among them human rights and international justice related issues . He co-wrote a chapter for the Nooit Meer Qatar book, published in June 2022, and was co-author of HRW's Daily Brief.
