A deadly military airstrike in Kaduna state, Nigeria, on September 27 claimed the lives of 24 people and injured dozens more, according to media reports, which stated that the strike was intended for criminal gangs popularly referred to as bandits, but instead killed others. This incident follows a series of erroneous military airstrikes that have killed hundreds of people since 2017.

Elon Musk pushed Brazil´s Supreme Court justice Alexandre de Moraes into a stare-down that culminated in the shutdown of X in the South American giant. Then Musk backed down. The social network complied with Supreme Court court orders that Musk had vociferously rejected before and access to X in Brazil was restored on October 9th. This case is a cautionary tale, underscoring the need for social media platforms and authorities to do a lot more to center human rights.
