Niger
Since 2014, armed Islamist groups - including Boko Haram and groups affiliated with the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) - have expanded their operations in Niger's western and southeastern regions. In response to the threat of armed Islamist groups, Nigerien security forces have demonstrated inconsistent regard for human rights and been accused of committing serious abuses against civilians.
