The 2019 law bans full-face coverings in several designated public places, raising concerns about discrimination against Muslim women. The government uses its power to strip citizens with dual nationality of their Dutch passport if they join a terrorist group overseas. Authorities have ended a policy allowing unaccompanied undocumented children and children from asylum seeking families to seek permanent residency in the Netherlands after five years in the country. The government has yet to introduce promised legislation to simplify the process by which transgender adults could change their legal gender on their birth certificate.
