Luciana Téllez Chávez is the 2017-2018 Finberg Fellow, she works jointly with the Americas and the Environment & Human Rights divisions to cover issues pertaining to indigenous and environmental rights defenders.
Previous to joining HRW, Luciana worked on advancing protection for human rights defenders at risk in the Americas with Front Line Defenders. She has a diverse track record having worked on humanitarian relief, citizen security, prevention of human trafficking, grassroots peacebuilding and women and girls sexual and reproductive rights.
She holds a Bachelor from SciencesPo, and postgraduate degrees in Conflict, Security & Development from King's College London and in International Law and Human Rights from the United Nations University for Peace. Luciana speaks Spanish, Portuguese, French and English.
