Andrea Carvalho is Brazil researcher with the Americas Division of Human Rights Watch.
She has researched and written on a wide range of topics, including police abuse, human rights defenders, gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive rights, Indigenous rights, and the human rights impacts of deforestation.
Previously, she worked as a senior research assistant with the Environment and Human Rights Division of Human Rights Watch and as a full-time consultant for the Americas Division.
She holds a master’s degree in human rights from the London School of Economics and Political Science, a law degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Faculdade Cásper Líbero.
