Oryem Nyeko is a senior researcher in the Africa Division at Human Rights Watch primarily covering Uganda and Tanzania. Prior to joining Human Rights Watch, he worked in Uganda with conflict-affected communities to promote victim-centered transitional justice with the International Center for Transitional Justice, in Kampala, and in Gulu at the Justice and Reconciliation Project. He has been an Alliance for Historical Dialogue and Accountability Fellow at Columbia University, and a fellow at the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation in Cape Town, South Africa. Oryem holds law degrees from the University of Swaziland and the University of Turin.
