Saman Nasim was sentenced to death by Iran’s judiciary when he was 17-years-old, and he may be executed in less than two weeks. Though he is now 18, the sentence should be overturned immediately. An international ban on child executions has not stopped Iran from executing up to 31 child offenders since 2010.

Last Friday, the leaders of Russia, Germany and France held talks on ending the fighting in Ukraine that were called “constructive and substantive,” although no details were released. In the meantime, eastern Ukraine’s civilian death toll is rising.
