Some 87,000 Rohingya have now fled Burma for safety in neighbouring Bangladesh as violence continues to force civilians from their homes. The exodus, like previous violence in Rakhine state in October 2016, was sparked by attacks by Rohingya militants on police posts which in turn triggered a crackdown by the Burmese military. There are growing calls for Burma's de facto leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, to do more to stem the bloodshed.
