The gang rape of a journalist in Mumbai has left a lot of women in India worried about their safety – and rightly so, especially as it comes less than a year after a student was gang raped and died in Delhi. 

But instead of just talking about the dangers, India – and other countries – should focus on how best to keep women safe.

After feeling intense pressure from the UK government, the Guardian has decided to share with the New York Times the NSA documents leaked to the newspaper by Edward Snowden. 

This bad idea of virginity testing reared its ugly head this week in Indonesia with a proposal that high school girls be subjected to mandatory “virginity tests” to tackle perceived problems of “premarital sex and prostitution.”

On Saturday, thousands of marchers will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous March on Washington D.C., when he gave his electrifying “I Have a Dream” address.
