On the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the liberation of Nazi death camps, Human Rights Watch joins with those who commemorate, with deep sadness, one of the most horrific atrocities of the twentieth century.
Anti-Semitism remains a threat today. On this anniversary, all those who commemorate the tragedy of the Holocaust must rededicate themselves to efforts to eradicate the scourge of anti-Semitism, xenophobia and all forms of racism.
The international human rights movement, inspired by the vow of “Never again,” has prevented and helped to lessen many human rights crimes over recent decades. But it has not stopped them all. On this tragic anniversary, in tribute to the victims we honor today, Human Rights Watch pledges to continue to defend those who are at greatest risk around the world.
