I was told repeatedly that I could not be in that place, that I had to go back, that I could not stay on the bridge. But I had already been advised by UNHCR that I could request refugee status, and that I could go to immigration to ask for permission to enter Mexican territory for humanitarian reasons. So I already knew it was my right to do so, but they would not let me pass.
