The Human Rights Watch Council brings together our supporters in committees across 17 cities around the world to play a key role in our global defense of human rights. Composed of more than 550 opinion leaders from a variety of backgrounds, the council seeks to increase awareness of local and global human rights issues and enlist the public and government to support basic freedoms for all. Committee members meet regularly to learn about human rights abuses, sponsor policy debates, and generate support for Human Rights Watch and its mission through fundraising, outreach, and advocacy.
