Nadia Hardman is a senior researcher in the refugee and migrant rights division of Human Rights Watch, monitoring and documenting human rights abuses against asylum seekers, refugees, and migrant populations. She has authored groundbreaking reports on the treatment of Ethiopian migrants on the eastern migration route from the Horn of Africa to Saudi Arabia, including on mass killing of migrants at the Saudi - Yemen border. Her work has also focused on situations of protracted displacement including Syrian refugees and their treatment in Lebanon and Turkey, and Myanmar refugees in Thailand. Nadia leads the organization’s work on forced displacement in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and has led research on this topic in Gaza and the West Bank.

Prior to Human Rights Watch Hardman worked for humanitarian organizations in Iraq and Lebanon, and was a Program Lawyer for the International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute working on rule of law issues in Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Egypt and Tajikistan. She is a qualified UK lawyer with a Masters in Human Rights from University College London. Nadia speaks fluent French and Italian.
