Ilaria Allegrozzi
Ilaria Allegrozzi is the Senior Sahel Researcher at Human Rights Watch.
Before joining Human Rights Watch, she worked as Senior Researcher for Amnesty International, investigating conflict-related abuses in Cameroon, Chad, and the Central African Republic. She focused on issues of counterterrorism and torture of detainees in the Lake Chad basin, including through the use of open source investigation techniques.
Ilaria lived and worked in various African countries for over 15 years, and is currently based in Rome. She also worked as Protection and Advocacy manager for Oxfam and the Norwegian Refugee Council.
She holds an LLM in Human Rights Law from Queen’s University, Belfast, United Kingdom. She speaks English, French, and Italian.
