Letter to the UN Security Council Concerning the Humanitarian Crisis in Iraq

Human Rights Watch strongly urges the Council once again to address in a more satisfactory way the
humanitarian consequences of the sanctions it has authorized in Iraq, and to take into account the
most basic humanitarian principles when applying coercive measures that affect the well-being of the
civilian population.
