(New York) - More than 70 civil society organizations from around the world called on member states of the United Nations to end uncompetitive elections and vote trading for Human Rights Council elections. Each government should publicly commit to support genuinely contested and principled electoral process for future Human Rights Council elections, the groups said in a letter sent to member states on August 13, 2009.
