During the past year the Kyrgyz government has displayed growing intolerance for
its political opposition, enacted draconian laws and used brutal methods to deprive
citizens of their right to free assembly and expression, intensified the persecution
religious dissidents, and taken an aggressive stance against human rights
defenders.
