In 2018’s trending rights tweets, US-Saudi relations stand out, from a nearly all-male summit in Washington DC, to US complicity in the Saudi-led coalition’s devastating airstrikes in Yemen, to the abhorrent murder of Jamal Khashoggi and Donald Trump’s official statement on “Standing with Saudi Arabia.  Nikki Haley walked out on the Palestinian ambassador at the United Nations and then pulled the US out of the Human Rights Council.

Women’s rights rang out worldwide with the #MeToo movement and #WhyIDidntReport, women in sports, and a sandwich made at the South Pole that must be the greatest comeback to sexists comments ever.
