President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is now calling his administration’s arrest and detention of three foreign Al-Jazeera journalists a public relations mistake, but international organizations say this is an understatement. The Los Angeles Times quoted HRW deputy director Joe Stork, who calls these imprisonments a continuation of Egypt’s “unrelenting assault on free expression” and says there was “zero evidence of wrongdoing” on the part of the journalists. All three have been charged with "aiding a terrorist group" and "falsifying news".
