Faiz Mohammed Ahmed al-Kandari of Kuwait had been accused of providing material support for terrorism and conspiracy for allegedly providing training at an Al-Qaeda training camp in Afghanistan and giving advice and assistance to Osama bin Laden. Although prosecutors at one point prepared a case against him, he was never formally charged with a crime.

On September 8, 2015 a US government interagency review board cleared Kandari for release. He was transferred to Kuwait on January 8, 2016. He had been at Guantanamo for over 13 years without charge. (Last updated August 9, 2018)
