Theodosia Catsiapis

Theodosia Catsiapis is the Leonard H. Sandler Fellow at Human Rights Watch and works in its Children’s Rights Division.

Prior to joining Human Rights Watch, Theodosia worked on a range of international human rights issues. Her work with the UN’s Designated Expert on Human Rights in Haiti encompassed research on children’s rights, particularly the recruitment and use of children by armed groups. She has worked on transitional justice across various contexts, including advocacy to integrate environmental concerns into Yemen’s transitional justice plan and efforts to strengthen victims’ rights within Nepal’s transitional justice process. She has also researched corporate accountability with a focus on social media companies’ complicity in international crimes in Ethiopia. Her experience in direct legal services includes providing legal support to low-income communities in Alaska and helping survivors of domestic violence obtain protective orders in New York.

Theodosia holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School and an LL.M. in International Criminal Law from the University of Amsterdam.
