Bernice Mutinda

Bernice Mutinda is an Associate in the Africa Division at Human Rights Watch, where she supports researchers working on human rights issues across East and Horn of Africa.

Prior to joining Human Rights Watch as an Associate, Bernice worked at Spencer West LLP, where she supported the Private Client and Dispute Resolution teams on cross-border legal matters. She previously interned with Human Rights Watch’s Africa Division, supporting work on Uganda and Tanzania, and has also been involved in community-based legal work through the Strathmore Law Clinic.

Bernice is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Strathmore University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. Her interests include human rights, access to justice, and the rule of law.
