Acting Chief Development Officer

Armelle Armstrong is the Acting Chief Development Officer at Human Rights Watch, where she brings more than two decades of leadership in global philanthropy, strategic fundraising, and organizational growth. Since joining Human Rights Watch in 2012, she has played a central role in expanding the organization’s worldwide development strategy, serving in senior positions including Managing Director and Senior Director of Development and Outreach.

Armstrong’s career spans international nonprofits, research institutions, and mission‑driven organizations, with a focus on mobilizing resources to advance social impact. Before Human Rights Watch, she held leadership roles in communications and development, including Communication Manager at the Global Forum for Health Research, Major Gifts Fundraiser at WWF, and Communication Director at Dun & Bradstreet. She also spent several years as a consultant advising organizations across sectors on resource mobilization and strategic communications.

Armstrong holds a Master’s degree in Corporate Communications from CELSA, Sorbonne.
