Amu Mnisi
Amu Mnisi is an Associate in the Africa division where she supports researchers covering Southern Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda. Prior to joining Human Rights Watch, Amu was an intern in Médecins San Frontières Southern Africa’s fundraising department where she spearheaded three successful projects and implemented a data-driven approach to streamline the prospect research process.
Amu received her Bachelor of Social Sciences in Politics and Governance, Sociology and Gender Studies from the University of Cape Town. As an undergraduate, she served as chairperson of the university’s only LGBT organization and under her leadership the organization was nominated for and won its first-ever Feather Award for Best LGBT Student Movement in 2020. Amu continues to work with grassroots LGBT organizations to support their fundraising efforts.
