Tanya Lokshina, Associate Director of Human Rights Watch’s Europe and Central Asia Division, said the following:

“The Nobel Committee’s awarding the Peace Prize to imprisoned Belarusian rights defender Alex Bialiatski, Ukraine's Center for Civil Liberties, which is at the forefront of documenting Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine, and the tenacious Russian rights giant Memorial, is a great gesture of solidarity with rights groups battling for populations under siege.”
