Santiago is a senior research assistant in the Americas Division. He has researched and written on a wide range of topics, including repression against demonstrators, attacks on the rule of law, and the impact of corruption on human rights.
Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Santiago reports on issues occurring in the Southern Cone and Peru.
Santiago joined Human Rights Watch as an intern in 2018. He then practiced law in Mitrani Caballero law firm and rejoined Human Rights Watch in 2021.
He earned a law degree from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (Argentina) as summa cum laude. He specialized in economic, social, cultural, and environmental rights at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina).
