Freddie Salas
Freddie Salas serves as an Associate for the US Program Team at Human Rights Watch. Before becoming part of the US Program, Freddie worked as a Program Coordinator for the Elections & Voting Team at Democracy Fund. Focusing on modern elections and the role of money in politics, Freddie supported the team in its mission to ensure that the views and votes of citizens come first in our democracy.
Prior to Democracy Fund, Freddie served as an AmeriCorps VISTA at the Fredericksburg Regional Continuum of Care where he worked to coordinate local nonprofits to reduce housing waitlists, creating tools to improve data accuracy for biannual Point in Time counts, and assisted with compiling HUD grant applications. He also ran the Homeless Veterans Working Group and successfully met the national goal of functionally ending veteran homelessness by the end of 2015 in the region.
Freddie graduated from Virginia Tech with a BA in Political Science and a minor in Urban Affairs and Planning.
