Bijan Sabet

Bijan Sabet served as United States Ambassador to the Czech Republic from 2022 to 2025. He worked to strengthen transatlantic security and advance democratic values, with particular focus on independent journalism, countering disinformation, Roma equality, and supporting Ukrainian refugees. He prioritized public diplomacy, building relationships with students, civil society partners, and emerging leaders across the country.

Before his diplomatic service, Bijan co-founded Spark Capital, a multi-stage technology venture capital firm, where he spent nearly two decades as a General Partner. He helped shape the firm’s strategy and approach to backing founders. At Twitter, he led Spark’s investment when the company had fewer than twelve employees and joined the board. Other investments he led include Tumblr (acquired by Yahoo), Stack Overflow (acquired by Prosus), Trello (acquired by Atlassian), and OMGPOP (acquired by Zynga).​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Bijan has served as a trustee of Boston College, St. Mark’s School, and Beaver Country Day School. He and his wife Lauren direct their philanthropy toward human rights, gender equality, education, and strengthening democratic institutions.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
