London Next Gen Community

The Next Generation Community (Next Gen) is a group of young professionals and students in London who actively engage with Human Rights Watch and support its work through raising awareness, increasing engagement on human rights issues, and empowering the next generation of human rights advocates to stand up for human rights through digital campaigns, in-person and virtual events, and targeted communications.

The Next Gen Community in London is chaired by Will Dufton, Krissy Brooks and Jacob Brockmann.

We are delighted that the Next Gen community has been growing and engaging a wider and more diverse audience directly with the HRW’s work. Over the past year a series of intimate briefings with HRW researchers has looked at the emerging situation in Afghanistan, human rights in global supply chains, asked if climate crisis is a human rights crisis and hosted a live podcast recording with a pan-African line-up of guests for ’Meeting the MeToo movement in Africa’.

Over the coming months, three focus groups, led by Next Gen ambassadors are exploring the human rights dimensions of three topics:

  • Technology and human rights
  • Human Rights and the climate crisis
  • Sport and human rights

These groups are currently developing a flagship event, partnership or advocacy campaign to grow awareness of the key human rights issues and HRW's work in the area, to secure more public support from their younger networks or progress key HRW lobbying initiatives.
