Niger’s New Emergency Law Threatens Rights
(Washington, DC) – A Minnesota resident, Renee Nicole Good, was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in south Minneapolis on the morning of January 7, 2026. Video shows an ICE agent firing shots at close range into her vehicle as she tries to drive away from the officers.
The following statement can be attributed to Tanya Greene, US program director at Human Rights Watch:
“The violent militarization of US immigration enforcement under the current administration has resulted in another brutal and senseless death. We challenge the Trump administration to redirect its energy and taxpayer funds to safe, peaceful immigration enforcement that follows the law and respects people rights, including the basic right to life.”
