Jorge Peniche
Jorge Peniche is the Senior Researcher on Mexico in the Americas Division at Human Rights Watch, where he works on human rights violations in contexts shaped by organized crime and state violence. Previously, he served as Mexico Program Lead at Guernica 37 Centre. He has contributed as an expert to United Nations global consultations on transitional justice. Jorge holds an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from New York University (NYU), where he was a Transitional Justice Scholar. In 2022, he was nominated for the Mexican National Journalism Award for his work documenting local patterns of state and crime collusion. He currently serves on the advisory board of the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Studies at Brown University.
