Janet Ngokadi
Senior Researcher, Africa Division
Janet Ngokadi is a senior researcher in the Africa Division at Human Rights Watch, where she oversees work on the Democratic Republic of Congo and supports the organization's thematic units working in the country.
Janet joined Human Rights Watch in August 2025 after more than 15 years with the United Nations, where she worked as a researcher and human rights analyst with the United Nations Joint Human Rights Office in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
She has also worked on gender-based violence with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and on human rights and HIV/AIDS issues with UNAIDS. She brings extensive experience working with civil society organizations and other human rights partners across Africa.
