2100 in 2010: Burma Political Prisoners Art and Photo Installation

In June 2010, Human Rights Watch, in collaboration with the advertising agency, JWT, launched a public outreach and education project in New York's Grand Central Station to raise awareness about Burma’s 2100 political prisoners. The installation was comprised of 200 miniature cells, each containing a photograph of a Burmese political prisoner. The prison bars were comprised of detachable pens that were removed from the installation and used by people to sign a petition calling upon Burma’s military rulers to free the political prisoners. Thousands of signatures by people from 86 countries were collected.
