    On June 28, Serbian authorities transferred Slobodan Milosevic, the former president of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, to The Hague to stand trial before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Human Rights Watch played a pivotal role in gathering evidence of atrocities committed in the Balkans during Milosevic's thirteen-year rule, and in bringing international pressure to indict, arrest and try those most culpable for these horrendous crimes.
