After being held without charge for over 6 months, Drs. Kamiar and Arash Alaei-Iranian brothers who are internationally known as pioneering HIV/AIDS physicians-were subjected to a one-day trial in Tehran's Revolutionary Court last week. Before the trial, neither they nor their attorney, Masoud Shafie, were informed of all the charges against them, nor were they allowed to review all the evidence or given an adequate opportunity to refute the politically motivated and illegitimate charges against them. Human Rights Watch  joins a coalition of international nongovernmental organizations, academic institutions, and medical leaders from across the globe in calling on Iran to free  the brothers immediately. See Human Rights Watch's recent news release (https://admin.hrw.org/en/news/2008/12/22/iran-free-aids-doctors) for more information on the Alaei brothers and their case.
