Corrections to our publications
Human Rights Watch strives to maintain the highest level of accuracy in our reporting. This includes a commitment to correcting errors or clarifying facts that appear in our publications in a timely fashion. Corrections appear both on this dedicated webpage and at the bottom of the publication that contained the error.
We cannot reply individually to all corrections requests, but all such requests that specify the exact nature of the alleged inaccuracy and the publication (title, page number / web address and date) in which it appeared will be reviewed. If you believe you have found an inaccuracy in our materials, please contact us.
Errors contained in social media posts under Human Rights Watch and staff accounts will also be corrected in a prompt and transparent manner.

The online version of this news release was changed to correct the name of the Informal Expert Group on Women, Peace and Security.
7/6/2021: This version of the news release clarifies, based on credible information from sources close to the case, that in June 2021 al-Hammadi replaced her original lawyer with another lawyer who has full access to her case file. Her original lawyer had been prevented from continuing to represent her. This version also clarifies that Houthi authorities asked al-Hammadi to take a “virginity test" but did not threaten her to do so.
We have corrected this article to indicate that two young bloggers were detained by Chechen police in February.

This news release incorrectly stated the estimates of Norwegian nationals still detained in Northeast Syria as 37, when the correct estimate is at least 8. The news release also incorrectly stated the number of Finnish nationals repatriated from Northeast Syria as 8, whereas the correct number is 10.
