Every year, interACT selects a person to honor as an ally to the intersex community.
This year's recipient of the Anne Tamar Advocacy Award is Kyle Knight of Human Rights Watch.

Thank you, Kimberly. I am so honored to be receiving this award. For the past five years, Human Rights Watch has partnered with interACT. During our partnership, we documented harms intersex people face when they are subjected to medically unnecessary surgeries.We have advocated for bodily autonomy and informed consent.There is incredible momentum to achieve intersex rights. Standards are changing in the US and around the world. And we will continue to stand alongside intersex activists fighting for policies that respect and protect them, instead of discriminating against them.
HRW is thrilled that our colleague, Kyle, has received an allyship award from interACT Advocates for Intersex Youth. Around the world, HRW works in deep partnership on a range of issues, including in our work to end medically unnecessary surgeries on intersex children. Intersex activists have been speaking out against so-called “normalizing” surgeries for decades, and HRW is honored to stand alongside the community to push for standards that respect bodily autonomy and informed consent. HRW staff across the organization have contributed to impact on intersex rights, and we’ll continue the fight as long as it takes.
