Nicole Tooby is a program officer for the Asia Division at Human Rights Watch, based in Sydney, Australia. She works to encourage the Australian government to take a more human rights-based foreign policy towards countries including but not limited to Myanmar, Vietnam, and Papua New Guinea. Nicole has conducted research into domestic human rights issues including the use of chemical restraints in aged care facilities, and deaths in custody of people with disabilities. She holds a master’s degree in Human Rights Law from the University of Melbourne, and a bachelor’s degree in International and Global Studies from The University of Sydney with honors in Government and International Relations.
