Children of Uganda

A black ballot box for women members of parliament in Kireka, Kampala. The Electoral Commission announced that it had imported opaque ballot boxes but there were too few to go around. Each of Uganda’s 69 districts elects one woman MP and each polling place had three ballot boxes: one for president, one for parliament and one for women members of parliament. Other seats in the parliament are reserved for the military, workers, the disabled and other special interest groups.  The military, workers, disabled and other groups voted separately earlier in the week and the results were announced before general election day.
