A voter in Kampala marks his ballot by placing it at the bottom of an open basin, which polling stations across the country used for privacy in lieu of voting booths. According to opposition parties, in places such as Mbarara, Kiruhura and Kayunga some open basins were too close to election officers and party monitors, placing the secrecy of the vote in doubt.
