The Human Rights Watch Global Report on Prisons

The Human Rights Watch Global Report on Prisons summarizes six years of work by the Prison Project and divisions of Human Rights Watch in investigating prison conditions in some twenty countries worldwide. Our focus, in this report, is on the human rights problems that are endemic in penal systems worldwide and it is our hope that the information we have assembled here will promote increased efforts by the international community generally, and the United Nations in particular, to secure compliance with the international standards for the treatment of prisoners.
