Abroso Kwabena Donkor (right) died on April 15, 2013 when a wall collapsed at a gold mine near Kyekyewere, Upper Denkyira East District, Central Ghanawhere he was working. Donkorwas an orphan who had been living with his maternal aunt after his mother’s death. He had dropped out of school after 6th grade and worked in artisanal gold mining full-time since the age of 15.
