Appendix II: Toxicity Levels in Children

Toxicity studies suggest that the tolerance levels for blood lead level concentrations in children are:[268]

> 10 μg/dL warrants medical attention.

> 45 μg/dL requires medical treatment within 48 hours.

> 70 μg/dL is a medical emergency.

> 120 μg/dL is highly toxic and possibly lethal.

* μg/dL = micrograms/per deciliter. A deciliter roughly equals half a cup of water.
