Joint Statement – Civil Society Reaction to the Adoption of the EU Directive on Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence

Today, the Council of the EU officially adopted the EU Directive on combating violence against women and domestic violence. As 12 civil society organisations which advocate for human rights, gender equality, and the right for all to live free from violence, we welcome this first ever binding EU legislation on this issue as a groundbreaking step.
