The Human Rights Watch Council

"To enlist public opinion leaders and the international community in the cause of human rights for all."

The Human Rights Watch Council is a network of committees across 12 cities in Europe, Canada and the United States. Composed of more than 300 opinion leaders from a variety of backgrounds, the committees are an informed and engaged constituency that are a key part of our global defense of human rights. The Council seeks to increase awareness of local and global human rights issues and enlist the public and government to support basic freedoms for all. Committee members meet regularly to learn about human rights abuses, sponsor policy debates, and generate support for Human Rights Watch and its mission through fundraising, outreach, and advocacy.
