A fifty-two-year-old Kosovar Albanian who was held for two days by the KLA and beaten severely. German KFOR troops freed him and numerous other captives on June 18, 1999, but an hour before they arrived the KLA removed his wife and four children -- who were being held captive with him -- to another location. When interviewed by Human Rights Watch, he had no idea where his family was. He began to sob when he mentioned their names.
