Greece: End Violence Against Asylum Seekers at Border

(Athens, March 17, 2020) – Greek security forces and plain-clothed men at Turkey’s land border have detained, assaulted, robbed and stripped asylum seekers and migrants before forcing them back to Turkey without letting them seek protection in Greece. The European Union should hold Greece accountable if it fails to guarantee the right to seek asylum and should press them to investigate and prosecute abusive officials, while working with the EU to relocate asylum seekers entering from Turkey throughout the EU.
