In today’s human rights news... At least 8 countries subject suspected gays to forced anal exams. This discredited technique should be banned worldwide.

The Kyrgyzstan Supreme Court sends the case of a prominent rights activist back to a lower court for review, despite the UN Human Rights Committee urging his immediate release. The EU should press China to end the crackdown on human rights and to release jailed activists. The same applies to Thailand, where the junta continues to restrict freedom of expression. There's more violence in South Sudan - an arms embargo and cessation of hostilities are urgently needed. Burma must protect minorities. And police killings continue in the Philippines.
